Matt Completes Successful Apprenticeship At Euramax Solutions

Posted on: August 9, 2022

Leading PVCu window, door, and composite door manufacturer Euramax Solutions has helped train an apprentice to become a full-time member of its finance team.

Matt Smith completed his apprenticeship last month and has taken over the Purchase Ledger role at the company, which supplies to the modular and offsite construction, national builders’ merchants, new build and holiday home sectors.

Delivered through Barnsley College and Euramax, the 21-year-old officially started his apprenticeship at the beginning of 2020 but due to Covid, he started properly in December of that year.

He started by having his time split helping between two main roles, Purchase Ledger and Credit Control/Payroll but since finishing his apprenticeship he has took over the Purchase Ledger role completely and shares Payroll with a colleague while also helping with ad hoc work.

Matt said: “Due to Covid, the study side of the apprenticeship was quite difficult as a lot of the learning was online and it’s much easier to learn in person. But the work side could not have gone any better.

“Euramax have been incredible and could not have been any more supportive; whenever I needed time for my exams they gave it to me and my weekly one-to-one meeting with my manager was hugely valuable.

“The people here are a big part of the reason why I have enjoyed it and the role has provided me with a lot of exposure to advanced work and there are lots of opportunities to progress.”

For Euramax Solutions’ Managing Director Emma Chapman, Matt’s appointment fits with the company’s commitment to upskilling young people, employing the best new talent, and tackling the industry’s skills shortage.

“Euramax Solutions commitment to training and investing in new talent is important and apprenticeships are key to our long-term growth strategy and developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce to add to our already talented team,” said Emma.

“We provide an exciting working environment that helps develop a career and Matt has done brilliantly and worked tremendously hard. Our employees are central to our success and it’s brilliant to help a new generation with on-the-job training as these are the people who will drive the company forward in the future.”
