Euramax Recruitment Role Perfect Fit For Judi
Posted on: March 2, 2022When a new recruitment and engagement coordinator role was created at Euramax Solutions it was the perfect fit for Judi Parker.
Not only did she have a strong background as a recruitment consultant, but she had also worked on the shop floor at the leading manufacturer of uPVC windows and doors for the previous 18 months.
And it was all thanks to her dad.
“I had been working really long hours and then Covid hit and after that, and trying to home school my daughter, I wanted a fresh start,” explained Judi.
“My dad has worked on the shop floor at Euramax for the last eight years and he said why didn’t I give it a go as it was a clock in and clock out job with no stress. I’d never worked in a factory or picked up a drill in my life and my dad didn’t think I’d stick it out, but I did just short of 18 months and really enjoyed it.”
With a desire to eventually get back into recruitment, she explained her background to Nick Cowley, the company’s MD, and asked that if any opportunity came up in the office she’d like to be considered.
After assisting with some of the interviews on a temporary basis while still on the shop floor and impressing, the role was created in November and she now looks after advertising online, screening CVs, interviewing, site tours, full site induction and works with new starters for the first month to make sure they are settling in.
The new role is a timely one, too, as the company is growing rapidly thanks to high demand, with the Modular Group Investments (MGI) company supplying to the off-site and modular construction sectors, national builders’ merchants, new build, and holiday home markets.
“Space-wise there is plenty of room for the team and our shifts to grow so our focus is on increasing our capacity by recruiting to meet the demand,” said Judi.
“My first-hand experience of the shop floor and some of the other roles certainly helps as I can be honest and upfront with candidates about a role and explain what is expected in it day to day. I’m really enjoying it.
“It also shows that you can progress within Euramax Solutions if you want to, and one of my jobs is to communicate to the wider team when positions become available; we currently have a couple of customer service roles which may suit someone on the shop floor.”
Nick Cowley said: “Recruitment and upskilling people internally are both vital for Euramax Solutions as we grow, and Judi was the perfect choice for the role.”
