Legal compliance for health and safety and the delivery of the Health and Safety strategy. |
OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE
|
You will provide expertise and guidance to the site, with the opportunity to influence, develop and improve safety standards. You will be part of the site senior management team and be an enabler to drive cultural improvements. |
WORK ENVIRONMENT & REQUIREMENTS

This role is based at our Barnsley site. |
GENERAL DESCRIPTION – TASK RELATED
|
- Develop the Health and Safety Strategy and objectives
- Ensure the site complies with statutory and legislative requirements with particular regard to policy, procedures, systems, implementation, auditing and review to establish best practice
- Carry out health, safety and environmental inspections to ensure relevant records and administration are maintained in accordance with company procedures and legal obligations
- Provide appropriate professional advice with regard to health and safety, as well as ongoing support and guidance, training and advising managers and staff on the interpretation and application of policies, procedures and practices to ensure effective implementation
- Develop risk assessments and safe systems of work, monitoring effectiveness in practice, to ensure adequate control measures are implemented
- Conduct COSHH assessments in line with legal requirements
- Lead investigations into near misses, accidents and dangerous occurrences, as required, to ensure causal analysis is undertaken to reduce likelihood of recurrence; and provide adequate information from the investigation as part of “lessons learned” to share information and knowledge across the site

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING:
|
Essential:
- Extensive knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and regulations
- Experience in Health, Safety and Environment Manager role, ideally within a manufacturing
environment
- Good level of ICT knowledge (such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook)
- NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards)
- Driving Licence

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING:
|
Desirable:
- Knowledge of ISO Quality Standards, Quality Tools, operational excellence and continuous
improvement.
- NEBOSH Fire Safety and Management Certificate
- Internal Auditor training
|

- Competitive salary – £45,000 – £50,000K – negotiable depending on experience
